Brand timeline
Breakout is now Kraken Prop
Kraken launched Kraken Prop on 27 May 2026 after acquiring Breakout in 2025. The program now operates inside Kraken Pro, while Breakout and Payward Oceanic Limited remain relevant to the legal structure. The rebrand did not turn the funded stage into a trader-owned brokerage account or a regulated investment service.
Older Breakout reviews may describe prices, rules or entities that no longer match the current Kraken Prop product.

What stands out
- Kraken Pro integration reduces platform fragmentation

- NASDAQ 100 was added soon after the rebrand
What to consider
- Old Breakout content can be stale
- The legal structure still requires careful reading
- The service remains virtual and unregulated
Timeline
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| September 2025 | Kraken announces the acquisition of Breakout |
| 27 May 2026 | Kraken Prop launches under the Kraken brand |
| 20 July 2026 | NASDAQ 100 becomes the first non-crypto market |
The sequence matters because a review written during the Breakout period may still rank for a current search. Its screenshots, platform workflow, price or country list can be wrong even if its historical description was accurate.
What changed
Kraken Prop is accessed through Kraken Pro. Evaluation purchase, trading and the main wallet relationship now sit inside the Kraken product environment. The current plan table offers three rule sets and nominal sizes from $5,000 to $200,000.
The brand also has a wider market story. At launch, Kraken advertised more than 60 crypto pairs. In July it added NASDAQ 100 trading with 2x leverage, a $100,000 maximum notional position and advertised 24/7 hours.
What did not change with the name
Brand integration does not answer the legal questions. Kraken’s terms still describe the evaluation as simulated. The funded arrangement also uses virtual funds, and the trader has no ownership interest in the account, positions or assets.
Breakout Trading Group, LLC provides the evaluation. Payward Oceanic Ltd. operates the funded arrangement after a pass, while Kraken acts solely as the platform interface. Payward Oceanic may choose to use some trading signals on the market, but the trader gains no ownership interest in its account, positions or assets.
The service is described as unregulated. Kraken’s regulated exchange entities and licences should not be borrowed to call Kraken Prop a regulated prop firm.
Current plan framework
Advanced uses a 9% target, 3% daily loss and 3% maximum drawdown. Intermediate uses 12%, 3% and 5%. Starter uses 10%, 3% and 6%. There is no announced time limit or consistency rule.
The standard profit share is 80%. The 90% option adds 20% to the evaluation price. Commission is 0.04% per side and funding is 0.033% per day, calculated every four hours.
These current figures should replace any different Breakout-era table. They were checked on 24 July 2026 and can change.
How to judge an older Breakout review
Check five fields before trusting it:
- Does it use the current Kraken Prop plan names?
- Does it show the 3% daily loss across all plans?
- Does it identify commission as 0.04% per side?
- Does it distinguish virtual funding from an owned account?
- Does it cite a source after 27 May 2026?
An article can remain useful for history while failing all five current-product checks.
Bottom line
Kraken Prop is a substantive integration, not only a logo change. The Kraken Pro workflow and NASDAQ 100 addition are real product developments. The underlying contract remains a virtual performance arrangement with strict loss limits.
Searches for Breakout, Breakout by Kraken and Kraken Prop now point to the same current research task: verify the live Kraken rules, not the old brand memory.
